Salute the Troops, along with other local nonprofits and small businesses, will host Rock for Hope, a free, family concert at Hamilton Park in Fond du Lac, Wis. on Saturday, July 1 from 11am – 3pm.

Rock for Hope will feature artists who have veterans in the band, as well as one additional group who is donating their services to this event. Guests will enjoy the sounds by Courier, Warrior Songs, Zakk Daniel, the J Ryan Trio, Vets on Frets, and Guilty. Additionally, this free concert is a sober (alcohol-free), family event that will have resource, food vendors, a bounce house, as well as a petting zoo.

“There is nothing like this right now in Fond du Lac.” said Salute the Troop’s board of directors president, Dan Tinsley, “we hope to educate and make our community aware of the various organizations located in their communities that are ready and willing to help (veterans). We also hope to reduce stigmas associated with all the challenges our community faces and remind our neighbors that we are stronger together.”

Salute the Troops and the Navy Club donated a jogging stroller to local veteran, Chase Hein, and his daughter, Naomi.

Hein was medically discharged from the Navy in 2009. He and his daughter enjoy the outdoors. It was Hein’s hope to make a bike or stroller out of old parts so he could run with his daughter who suffers from a birth defect that impacts her motor skills. Salute the Troops and the Navy Club heard Hein’s story and partnered to purchase this piece of equipment.  “This is such a gift!” said Hein, “This jogging stroller allows me to run in a comfortable position and is much safer for Naomi.”  Hein is also father to three other children of which he enjoys spending time with.
